While he was gloating, the Warrior threw Drusilla's scythe back to her and they fought Orcus together. During the duel between the Warrior of Light and Orcus, Orcus empowered himself. Grabbing Drusilla's scythe, they departed. Orcus challenged the Warrior into a duel in the Stone Vigil. The next day, a letter written with Drusilla's blood arrived in the headquarters. After saving a couple from Orcus's voidsents, the Warrior returned to the headquarters where Orcus appeared yet again and kidnapped Drusilla to stoke the Warrior's wrath. The Warrior was asked to inquire the member of Lemures about Orcus's appearance as he had been hunting Drusilla's underlings. He slaughtered his own family and Drusilla was the only survivor, albeit at the cost of her own voidsent avatar, which was consumed by Orcus. A broken Rullus wanted more power, and in that moment of weakness, his voidsent avatar consumed and transformed him into Orcus. Solus was not human and Rullus was defeated. As Solus zos Galvus expanded the Empire's territory aggressively, Rullus decided to assassinate the first emperor as he had feared Solus would bring the Empire's downfall. Seeing the Warrior, he became interested in their soul and threatened to consume them after they were ripe as a Reaper before leaving.ĭrusilla then explained that Orcus was formerly Rullus, the best soldier of Reaper unit of Garlemald. Orcus appeared, and revealed he was Drusilla's grandfather. After informing his widow, Drusilla asked the Warrior to meet her in northern Thanalan where Drusilla explained that her true goal was to slay Orcus, the voidsent who killed her family and had been stalking her ever since. Sometime later, the Lemures were surprised to learn that Arnegis was killed by a voidsent. The Warrior baited the voidsent in North Shroud, but it was not Drusilla's target and they were forced to return to Ul'dah. After the Warrior culled a chimera there, Drusilla was satisfied of their prowess and they returned to the headquarters.ĭrusilla called the Warrior back to the headquarters to help hunt a voidsent that had been terrorizing the Black Shroud. The Warrior agreed and Drusilla gave them the Reaper soul stone.ĭrusilla, accompanied by her informant, Arnegis, led the Warrior into Cutter's Cry to train them in the way of Reaper. Arriving in the Lemure Headquarters in Steps of Nald, they met Drusilla, the leader of Lemures, who asked the Warrior to help protect their new life in Eorzea by becoming a mercenary and hunting down voidsent. The Warrior of Light met with a member of the Lemures in Ul'dah, where they learned that the Lemures were turncoat Garleans that aimed to live humbly among the Eorzean population. The advent of magitek made Reapers obsolete, and when some were discovered to be insurrectionists against the Emperor, the tradition was outlawed entirely. After Emperor Solus rose to power the Reapers were a special unit that aimed to assassinate the Empire's adversaries, be it from other nations or their own people, before conflict happens. Thus the Reapers were born.Īfter Garlemald as a nation was established, Reapers began training in the village of Lapis Manalis and served in the army of the Garlean Republic. In this harsh region they lived in miserable conditions, forcing the farmers to take their gathering sickle as weapon and allying with voidsents to transcend their inability to use aether. The region is contested heavily between the Ilsabardian nations and eight hundred years ago, the Garleans were chased from their warm home into the frigid regions of northern Ilsabard. The Garleans originally lived as humble farmers on the bountiful region of southern Ilsabard.
In the early days of the Empire, they originally served a role not too dissimilar from the Dark Knights of Ishgard as shadow assailants against corrupt individuals with power. They also protect Garlean refugees who have grown sick of the Empire's evil and fled to Eorzea, whom they refer to as their family. They keep their identity as Garleans secret and serve as swords for hire for the people of Ul'dah, as well as hunting voidsent. Lemures means "spirits of the dead" in the Garlean tongue.
The Reapers have an order known as the Lemures in Ul'dah led by Drusilla. In Endwalker, Zenos Galvus changes his job to Reaper. Reapers utilize weaponskills to absorb souls from their enemies to fuel their enhanced weaponskills, which are then used to fuse the Reapers with their voidsent avatar to access the Enshrouded form, allowing access to even more devastating combos.
